Just Accessible Music

Tyler worked with JAM in 2021, exploring and developing innovative ways to learn and teach music by providing one on one and group music lessons to students with (dis)abilities.

Jorge Cabrera State Senate Campaign

Tyler worked on and supported Jorge Cabrera's 2020 campaign for State Senate, volunteering time, phone banking, and holding signs at the polls. Cabrera won and humbly represents the 17th District of Connecticut.

Stephen Samela State Representative Campaign

Tyler worked on and supported Stephen Samela's 2020 grassroots campaign for State Representative, volunteering time, canvassing, phone banking, writing editorially, and holding signs at the polls. Tyler personally believes there should be more educators, like Samela, in office not more lawyers. Samela was defeated, however he proved passion and ideas can test power and incumbents.

KEYS

Tyler worked with K.E.Y.S from 2019-21, providing one-to-one instrument lessons and group music instruction to underserved inner-city children in Bridgeport, Connecticut who have no other access to the truly empowering life experience of music education.

Music Declares Emergency

Tyler is proud to be a part of the Music Declares Emergency initiative, a group of artists, music industry professionals and organizations that stand together to declare a climate and ecological emergency and believe in the power of music to promote the cultural change needed to create a better future.

Raise Your Voice! The Sound of Student Project

Tyler's song "Little Princess" was featured on the compilation album "Raise Your Voice! The Sound of Student Protest," released by the independent record label 'Little Village Foundation' to serve as a cross section of American teens calling for change.

Tyler is a volunteer and supporter of Greenpeace, a global, independent campaigning organization that uses peaceful protest and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future.

Connecticut Against Gun Violence

Tyler serves as an executive board member of the non-profit organization, Connecticut Against Gun Violence, which serves to identify, develop, and promote passage of legislation designed to enhance gun safety and reduce gun violence in Connecticut.

Action Together Connecticut

Tyler is a member of Action Together Connecticut, a coalition of autonomous but allied chapters across Connecticut standing indivisible in upholding progressive American values and resisting harmful and intolerant policies.

Indivisible Connecticut

Tyler is a member of Indivisible Connecticut, a progressive grassroots movement of activists across the state that began as a response to the result of the 2016 election. Indivisible is all about local, coordinated social action to save our democracy through protests, voter registration, contacting legislators, and even concerts.

Oz Monte Gubernatorial Campaign

Tyler worked on and supported Oz Griebel's campaign, speaking at events and spreading the campaign's belief that independent leadership, not beholden to special interests and party politics, was critical to moving the state forward. Their message was simple- candidates should not answer to their party, they should answer to the people. The constant squabbling between parties will never produce results in the interests of voters. Tyler still stands by that message, even after their 2018 defeat.

Connecticut Students Demand Action

In 2018, Tyler founded CT SDA as an online community organization where Connecticut students can educate others on how to be active in their communities and demand action towards school safety and against gun violence.

Everytown for Gun Safety

Tyler is an active volunteer for Everytown, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country, whose movement includes passing necessary gun safety laws, supporting and electing candidates who will govern with gun safety in mind, ending the epidemic of gun violence in America, and beating the NRA.

Dylan's Wings of Change

Tyler is a member of Dylan’s Wings of Change, a foundation whose mission is to help children with autism and other related conditions achieve their full potential, established to honor the memory of Dylan Hockley, who was killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Where Angels Play

In 2014, Tyler spent weeks helping build the Watertown 'Where Angels Play' playground in honor of his Aunt, Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, alongside firefighters, police officers, teachers, school administrators and other community volunteers.

Best Buddies

Tyler is a member of the nonprofit organization Best Buddies, the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them by helping form meaningful friendships with their peers, become more independent, improve public speaking and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

Naugatuck Board of Education

In 2016, Tyler advocated that there be a mandatory lockdown active shooter every school year after realizing students, and staff, were not prepared. Tyler proposed this plan and worked in conjunction with the Naugatuck BOE, successfully changing the town's crisis response drill policy.
